She's Here!

I am happy to announce that Teresa Brigid Milligan arrived this morning at 5:20am. Not one to be shy, she weighed a whopping 9lbs. 13oz. and was 21.5 inches long. Mother and baby are both fine and beautiful. I couldn't be prouder of Tara and be more in love with our little girl. Here's the first of many, many photos to come.

Due Date

So...today was my due date. Obviously, she didn't come today. We weren't too surprised, since at my last doctor's appointment the doctor said "well, she definitely won't be here by your due date". Thanks a lot, that's just what I wanted to hear! But at least he went ahead and set a date to induce her. We're getting induced Thursday night at 7:00 pm, so she should be here sometime Friday! I'm still hoping she comes before then, but if not, I think I can make it to Thursday still being pregnant. One thing that never ceases to amaze me about being pregnant is how it makes complete strangers feel comfortable giving you really awkward advice. Our cashier at HEB today was kind enough to tell us her opinion on the best way to naturally induce labor...and how well it worked for her! Anyway, I told Marcus I'm not leaving the house again until it's time to go to the hospital, but we'll see how well that works.

I wish I'd known...

So, on Saturday, Marc insisted that we go down to the pool in our complex after we had run all of our errands. I was super tired, and really didn't want to, but he talked me into it. Luckily, a girl in our ward had given me a bag of maternity clothes, which included two brand new maternity bathing suits! So I no longer had the excuse of not fitting into my bathing suit any more. I'm SO glad Marcus talked me into going swimming, because it was so ridiculously fabulous! I almost felt like I wasn't pregnant, which was awesome. Ahh, and it made my feet feel SO good...way better than they've felt for quite some time. And my back too. I just felt so great in the pool, and afterwards, I can't believe I've wasted so much potential pool time! We will DEFINITELY be going back for more soon. I mean, what else do I have to do during the day anyways? ;)

Here are some pictures of our pool:

After our ridiculously refreshing swim, we finished up a lot of stuff to get ready for the baby. We had gone to Target earlier to get some more stuff. We got a super cute baby tub, it's shaped like a whale. Unfortunately, Target apparently doesn't sell cradle sheets, just bassinet and crib sheets, so far we've only been able to find them online at baby's r us. We also got some more organizational stuff and were able to finish organizing all the odds and ends in her room. We never realized how much stuff babies need! It's crazy. Marc put together the bouncer we got for her (husbands are so useful for that kind of stuff!):

How cute is it? It bounces and the little lion attached purrs and roars and plays music too. I'm sure Teresa will love it. Now we're just waiting for her to get here. We are definitely ready! I reached the point of just being done being pregnant a few weeks ago, and Marc finally has too. We just want her to come out already so we can meet her!

The Hospital Tour

Yesterday we had a chance to tour the hospital where our little one will make her debut. While that was fun, I wanted to give you all a preview of the show since you wont get to be there.

The Doctor: (assuming he's there)

The Hospital:

The Lead:

We learned about checking in, got a chance to see the rooms, and learned a little bit more about the processes and services available to us. I don't know if all labor and delivery rooms are this nice, but they have 10 private rooms with semi-comfortable beds ready for delivery. The nurse admitted that these aren't the best beds, but she added, "You're going to be working while you're in here." The post partum rooms are private and offer more comfortable beds with flat screen TVs. While we can't film the delivery (do you really want to see that anyways?), we can film her first bath and will make this available online much to our daughter's future embarrasment. The nursery looks nice and there was a cute new baby in there while we were visiting, although he didn't hold a candle to our future addition. Most importantly the hospital has free WiFi, so we'll be able to give you guys play-by-play updates via Twitter and Facebook.

Just some updates...

Finally it's May! I never thought May would actually get here...although, I've already resigned myself to the baby not coming until June. We had two fun baby showers last week. My visiting teachers threw one for me last Saturday. It was way fun, and both Grandmothers came, as well as Aislinn and Maire and Aine. Here's a cute picture of Maire, Aine and the food table.

We had another super cute cake, and lots of other yummy food. Plus, we got lots of cute clothes and other baby stuff. Mom Ricker won a game, she knew the most names of nursery rhymes!

Marc's coworkers threw him a surprise shower on Friday. One of his coworkers picked me up to surprise him (at 8:00!). It was fun to meet all the people he works with, and they gave us some way nice baby stuff too. One thing they gave us was a monitor, which was nice, because just the night before we'd been trying to decide if we wanted to get one or not...(well, we knew we wanted to get one, we just weren't sure if we wanted to spend our own money on it just yet...) So that took care of that decision for us!

We also went and took a tour of the hospital where we'll be giving birth on Saturday. It was really interesting, and made the whole idea of labor a lot less horrifying. Now I'm not really worried about the actual labor part so much as I am about knowing when to actually go to the hospital.

We're super excited for the baby to finally get here, we're ready whenever she is, which is hopefully sooner than later!
