Teresa turns SIX!

We celebrated T's birthday at the end of May. She is just the best. Let's take a stroll down Teresa memory lane, shall we?

Brand new baby girl

First birthday celebrations

Look at those two year old curls!

Probably one of my all time favourite pictures of the T

Four!!!!

Five years old. I feel like that just happened! I can't believe it is a whole year later already.

Teresa has been so excited to turn six. She loves, loves big cities, she is always asking to go to Baltimore...and Paris...and New York. So, we figured one of those was more realistic than the others. Marc took her to spend the whole day in New York City. She was so excited. I went in to wake her at 5 in the morning so they could get to their train on time and she practically leaped down from her bed. She had the best time, it was a very long day, their train didn't get home until 1:30 the next morning! She slept for a few hours on the train and when they got home she was bright eyed ready to tell me all about it. The number of times she said "Oh, it was a MAZE ing" made me so happy.

They saw the Empire State Building, Central Park, and Times Square. They went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, did a bus tour, and boat tour, rode the subway and had some New York pizza and hot dogs. Marc was wearing his fitbit and said they walked over 11 miles.

Nora and Finn definitely missed having T home with us. I found Nora making videos for T on my phone "I miss you Teresa, happy birthday, I love you, hope you're having fun in New York" etc. It was very sweet. And she was very concerned about T missing out on the fun stuff we did without her that day. Marc said T was the same way in New York, she kept commenting on how much Nora would like stuff and how she wished she was there. Finn missed her too, the next day he kept saying "with you, with you" and wanting to sit on T's lap.

Marc was good at documenting their trip despite his phone battery wanting to die the whole time.

Empire State Building!

She was super impressed by these statue people.

This is T's all time favourite painting! Teresa loves art, so we have incorporated learning about famous artists and paintings in to our home school quite a bit. We have a children's book of art that she just loves to look through and she loves this one the best. She will often recreate it herself in different ways. I was so, so excited to see that it just happened to be on exhibit at the Met when they were going. She knew they were going to an art museum but seeing the picture was a complete surprise to her. I couldn't believe how tiny it is in real life, I'm pretty sure the picture of it in our book is bigger! Marc said T wasn't disappointed at all. It is "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai. She chose a poster of it from the gift shop as her souvenir for the day.

Waiting for the train home. Girlfriend was pretty tired after walking around NYC for 14 hours straight. She is already helping Nora plan her 6th birthday trip.

The next day we opened presents and, of course, had to have our traditional birthday meal at Chevy's. We are getting quite the collection of birthday sombreros around here. Poor Finn burst in to tears while the waiters were singing, but T adored it.

And some friends stopped by to sing and eat some cake with her. She chose a delicious tres leches cake from Costco this year.

Hopefully seven won't be too much of a disappointment after the awesome time she had turning six, lol. She is just the best. She brings so much joy to our home. I'm so grateful that I get to be her mom. She is smart and funny and caring and generous. And she is just the best oldest sister we could have gotten for our family.
