At the park

We've been spending lots of time at the park recently. Teresa and I tag along when all the cousins go, which happens pretty frequently. We've been trying out all the different parks in Boerne, but I think the little people here have decided that the park by Uncle Gary's house is their favorite (for now). It's a pretty awesome park. Lots of things to climb on and through and big tall slides to go down. Teresa usually only uses the swings. She's not such a fan of the slides yet, and she's too little for pretty much everything else. And she LOVES to swing. She just thinks it's the best. After a while on the swing we decided to try out one of the tunnels. T wasn't too interested at first, but I lured her in with some of her baby puffs, and she quickly changed her mind.

She and Colin were having fun running back and forth through the tunnel. Well, the running was just Colin, obviously, but Teresa was crawling pretty fast. They're just so cute together! He's always bringing her little toys and hugging her. All the little cousins do lots of that, actually. Teresa gets treated like a little celebrity a lot of the time. It works out great for me, since there is always someone ready to entertain her during a diaper change or play peek-a-boo to cheer her up when she's crying. Colin also loves sneaking into T's room while she's napping to sit on my bed and watch her. Unfortunately she doesn't stay asleep for long after that for some reason...

Anyway, here are some pictures from the park:

Teresa and I got to go visit Marc in Pensacola this past weekend. We loved it! Teresa was great on the planes, again. I'm so lucky that she is such a great traveler. I'm also always really impressed by how nice and helpful people are when you fly alone with a baby. I always have someone offering to carry our bags or hold Teresa while I get our stuff together or go through security. That helps a lot. I'll have to remember that 30 years from now when I see some young mother traveling by herself...

We stayed in a cute hotel on base, it turned out to be WAY nicer on the inside than it was on the outside. It was so fun to get to be a real family again for the weekend ;). Teresa was such a happy girl the whole time. Marcus had a lot of fun seeing all the new things she's learned how to do since he was here at Christmas time. The weather was super windy and rainy on Saturday, so we went to the Naval Air Museum on base. (Marc's training is at a Navy base, which is why it was a Naval museum). It was pretty interesting, lots of planes to look at and that kind of stuff. Teresa was pretty indifferent to the whole experience, until she fell asleep in the wrap.

Marc got to sit in one of the planes. I could definitely not be a pilot. They have to sit in the tiniest spaces.

They had lots of interesting World War II stuff...this is a replica of the Atomic Bomb that was dropped on Japan. Can you believe how huge it was? No wonder it was so effective.

That night we ate at an Irish pub in town. It's supposedly the very best resturaunt in all of Pensacola. The food was pretty good, except for their totally inaccurate interpretation of boxty. Right after we ordered, the hostess brought a slightly older couple in to sit at a table by us, but they asked to move, because they didn't want to sit next to Teresa. Not cool. Especially since Teresa was just perfect the whole time. We brought a banana and some baby food puffs for her, which she loved. I love that she can sit in a high chair now, it makes things so much easier.

Wouldn't you just love to sit by this baby girl in a restaurant?

Odds are pretty good that we'll be moving to Pensacola in March, and this weekend totally won me over to that idea. Marc will graduate from AIT on the 26th of March and his Sergeants have recommended him for two classes that would last another 5 months there. If he gets into one of those, Teresa and I will be moving out there to join him. Don't ask me when we'll know, though, because it seems like nobody knows the answer to that question. Anyway, here's one of the things (the main thing) that changed my mind about moving to Florida:

We found the beach on Monday, before Marcus took us to the airport. It was gorgeous, and only about fifteen minutes away from the base. We were bummed that the weather had been so lame the rest of the weekend, or we would have definitely spent more time at the beach. Monday was gorgeous though, and Teresa had fun with her second beach experience. She wasn't too sure of the sand, at first. She kept putting her hands down to crawl but would pull them back when she felt the sand. She figured it out eventually, though.

Only nine more weeks of training!

Oh, and if you're interested in seeing more pictures (mostly of Teresa, of course) here's the facebook link:

Crawling and such

After three-ish months of scooting and army crawling all over the place, Teresa finally figured out how to actually crawl. It was fun watching her figure out how to actually use her knees to get around. After a few days of shaky-ness, she's got it pretty perfected. Below are two short videos of her new skills:

She also has been pulling up to stand for a while now. It's so fun to see her little head appearing over the side of her pack and play when she wakes up. Now she's working on letting go with one hand while still keeping her balance. If you listen carefully in the next video, you can hear her laughing (which is actually a pretty rare occurrence) above the din of the nieces and nephews being entertained by Uncle Gary.

What else? Oh, she also got some front teeth for Christmas. Well, the day after Christmas, actually, her bottom two teeth decided to finally make an appearance. Teething wasn't her favorite thing in the world, so we're glad to have that over with for now.

And did I mention that Teresa and I are flying to Pensacola tomorrow to see this guy?

We can't wait!

The Hair

Teresa has crazy hair. It has a mind of its own. It sticks out in all directions. It is ridiculously cute and curly when it's wet after her bath. Then it somehow dries into complete chaos. It makes me a little sad. Over Christmas, Aunt Melissa and I decided it was time to try for some pigtails. Below are the results. Any guesses about how Teresa felt about it?

It's getting pretty long in the back. Or more accurately, it's getting pretty long in the back on the left side of her head. Not so much on the right side. Yep, it's growing in completely unevenly, poor girl.

See what I mean?

I don't want to cut it yet, though. She's only seven months old. If anyone's allowed to have crazy, uneven hair, I think it should be a seven month old...
